Zane Grey, popular author and film-maker in the 1920s, was a resident of Payson and owned two substantial plots of land. Many of his books and movies about Payson including, “To the Last Man,” had a following. For many years, the area was known as “Zane Grey County.”

Kohl’s Ranch Stables offers Payson residents the chance to rent horses in order to enjoy trail rides on Saddle Mountain. The trails along Saddle Mountain provide riders with panoramic views along the Mogollon Rim. Be sure to bring your camera to this ride!
